One of the oldest Jewish settlements in Europe has existed continuously for 2500 years and still remains at the same place in the heart of Chalkis.

Today, we can see the 19^th century Synagogue and the unique Medieval Jewish Cemetery with its triangular-shaped kabalistic graves. We can also see the Holocaust Memorial and the statue of Mordechai Frizis, a Jewish war hero of WWII. Apart from that, Chalkis is also a very cute coastal town with a warm ambience and a lovely promenade by the waterfront.

After a 1-hour drive from Athens we start our visits to the Jewish places of this impresively old Jewish community as well as to the main attractions of the city, such as the famous Evripus Channel, where the waters move towards the north for 6 hours and then change direction moving towards the south for another 6 hours. We will sit by the water for a refreshment or coffee and then we will head back to Athens.
