Chania is a unique mix of cultures that result in one of the most charming little old towns of Greece. The Jewish, Muslim and Christian co-existence has given the town its special color that we will try to explain, as this is the only way to understand in depth the Jewish presence in Crete from the ancient times until WWII when all Jews of Crete perished.

Today, there is no active Jewish community in Chania but there is still the Romaniote Synagogue and Mikve plus the alleys of the Jewish Quarter to remind everyone of the very old and once flourishing Jewish community of Chania. The tour focuses on the Jewish history but also includes all sites of general interest of the historic centre.
