The Jewish presence in Veria dates back to the Roman era. The small community grew bigger by the end of the 15^th century with the arrival of numerous Jews from Spain and Portugal. The community existed until the Holocaust, when it was destroyed. We will visit the renovated 19^th century Synagogue and the castle-like Jewish Quarter that still remains and reminds us of the small but long-living Jewish community of Veria.

Next, we will visit the important archaeological site of Vergina, the ancient capital of the kingdom of Macedonia, where Alexander the Great was crowned king. In the site, apart from the other findings, one can admire the Royal tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander.
