The Jewish Diaspora in the Roman world brought the first Jews to the island of Aegina form as early as the ancient times.

We can still see the remains of the 5^th-8^th century CE Synagogue near the port. You will visit the ancient Temple of Aphaea, an important doric-order construction of archaic/classical architecture and the Old Town with its market and lovely promenade by the waterfront.

The island exports pistachio and one can find all kinds of pistachio products at the cafes and shops of the centre. Lunch by the sea is recommended. In the summer months you can also go swimming!
