Salonica (“Thessaloniki” in Greek), also known as “Jerusalem of the Balkans” and “Madre de Israel”, is a very important Jewish destination in Greece and one of the most important Jewish communities in the world before WWII. Being so far from Athens may discourage some visitors. This trip is designed to make a fast but complete visit to Thessaloniki possible.

You will fly from Athens to Salonica in the morning, tour the city of Salonica and return to Athens in the afternoon. You will have the time to visit everything in the city, Jewish and General, plus some free time to wander about in the market and grasp the color of the city. The Jewish Quarter, the 2 remaining Synagogues, the Jewish Museum, the old railway station and all other Jewish monuments are included. So are the non-Jewish sites, like the trade mark of the city, the White Tower. Time is enough to do everything without rushing from one place to another.

Extended versions: If one would like to spend a little more time in Salonika, one can add 1 extra day or 2 extra days to the visit. That way one will have free time for wandering around Aristotelous Sq., the main market with all kinds of shops and delicacies, the coastal road with the fancy cafes as well as return to some of the places visited the previous day for further exploration. If one prefers, it is possible to add a sight-seeing tour in the city or go on a daily excursion to Veria & Vergina.

• For 1 or 2 people: Sedan-size car (possibly a lux taxi). For more people: Van with seats and luggage space according to the group size.
